About Me

Meet Pawnee A. Davis. I am the owner and an attorney of Pawnee A. Davis Law Firm. I focus my practice on child custody and related services for single or unmarried professionals. I aim to help families and children achieve a better quality of life; I formed my family law practice around this principle. I understand that single parents struggle to provide a good home for their children and want reasonable custody arrangements that take their individual circumstances into account. I make it my goal to listen, assess, and act on your behalf.

My professional experience includes assisting public and private firms in family law, municipal law, affordable housing, economic development, including child custody, small business law, and criminal law matters. I volunteer for the District of Columbia Volunteer Lawyer’s Project (DCVLP) where I practice family law and have served as a court-appointed child advocate guardian ad litem). I have also enjoyed managing projects and providing my legal research, analysis, and writing services to DCVLP since 2009 and to the public sector since 2004.

I am licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Maryland. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where, during law school, I was appointed to the Journal of Technology Law and Policy for two years after receiving the CALI Excellence Award for excellent legal analysis and writing in my first year. Some of my memberships include:

I serve as a member on two leadership committees for the American Bar Association (ABA): Center on Children and the Law Advisory Committee and the Online and Social Media Team; and two ABA divisions: Family Law Division and General Practice, Solo, and Small Firm Division. I also belong to the District of Columbia Bar Association, Bar Association of the District of Columbia, Family Law Section of the Maryland Bar Association, Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Alliance of Black Women Lawyers.
