I am the owner and attorney for Pawnee A. Davis Law Firm. I have a breadth of experience in law, federal government, policy, investigations, and well-established collaborative relationships, we can handle legal and consulting matters for large companies as well as smaller companies and individuals.
My firm’s focus is on entrepreneurs that need help in their personal and professional affairs, including staring up a business, maintaining a business, and should you need a divorce and need to protect your assets and your rights as a parent, I will handle that, too. I’ve been successful at getting 50/50 custody awards for clients and decision making with tie-breaking authority so that their assets were not drained by the other parent–note that this was justified by the circumstance, but your situation may require a different approach
For businesses that find themselves as the subject of a federal investigation or that have allegations of misconduct or Antitrust or Antibribery corruption launched against them I will put together a plan, investigate the allegations, and provide findings. I can help you avoid litigation and penalties and provide you with important information you will need to respond to the government. The firm also provides consulting tailored to lower the risk of litigation, as well as compliance assessments and compliance training.
For businesses that need our consulting services I will provide strategies that will help your business plan for the future, which is important for hiring, retention, succession planning, budgeting, and other areas significant to your business. Strategic planning is important for all businesses, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and all sizes of private companies.
My unique background includes law, policy, analytic investigations, and writing. Since 2008, I worked for various attorneys handling custody, divorce, contract, and landlord-tenant matters. Prior to that I worked in various aspects of law: a private law firm handling criminal matters, a district attorney’s office, a county attorney’s office handling primarily civil matters, an alternative dispute resolution office, as well as legal services organizations in family law, municipal law, affordable housing, and economic development. Periodically, I work for other law firms on a contract basis and have greatly expanded my knowledge.
For 10 years I worked for the federal government, namely the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in Washington, DC. GAO is a professional services organization that holds, the federal government and others who receive federal funding, accountable and evaluates whether programs are running effectively and efficiently. While at GAO I focused on issues of law and policy; evaluated how federal agencies complied with, implemented, and were affected by laws and policies; and made recommendations for improving agencies’ systems, processes, and policies.
I gained extensive experience and reached a senior level at GAO, where I investigated emerging laws and programs of public interest, conducted analyses and audits, and provided advice on how agencies could optimize their programs through strategic planning, establishing frameworks with results-oriented approaches, and measuring results. These efforts involved holding meetings with the leadership of numerous federal agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies including well-known social media companies. In over a dozen reports and numerous closed meetings, I provided findings, my insights, and recommendations to congressional committees in Washington, DC.
With the understanding that not everyone has the resources to hire an attorney, I have provided my legal services through volunteer work since 2008. I continue to work with organizations such as the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer’s Service so that people who could not otherwise afford an attorney can receive the legal help that they need.
